Assume a user is already set up as a member of Microsoft Networking with Domain Name XXX.

I know if the user is sitting on a machine running NT4 workstation, he can simply select the function "change password" on the logon screen. There is no need to get any help from the System Administrator.

But what if the user is sitting on a Window 95/98 workstation? The Window logon screen has not the "change password" function. (I think I read some book about this but can't remember how or whether it is possible to do it?)

Thanks for a quick answer in advance.

Thanks. Issue with Microsoft Networking password over.

I remember we don't really need a user password to use Windows 98 (without networking). But once you've (this is what I have done) entered one, you'll need to enter (correctly) it every time. What is the trick to roll it back (which means I can simply press the escape key when prompted with Windows password)?

1)
If you can not press escape to bypass the Windows Login, a system policy is set to prevent bypassing the login. You would need to use policy editor to allow pressing escape. Check with the system administrator first.

2)
You can boot to a floppy disk and delete all the PWL files in the windows directory to erase the stored password.

Follow these steps:
1) Boot to Win98 floppy
2) Type these commands (press enter at each line):
C:
cd \windows
del *.pwl
