ok, i bought an Audigy LS 5.1 card, and those logitech z-640 speakers. i can run music, and everything else in surround sound, but when i go into Doom 3 and hit the "surround sound" button, or whatever its called, it tells me that i dont have capable equipment. im kinda stumped. even the creative test for 5.1 sounds works perfect, so i know its not my card/speakers... HELP!
thanks!

I got the same post when I hit the options menu also and my system in the main control panel and also in my Audigy control panel are set to 7.1 .
I bet its a game issue. if you play the game does the sound come out of the four speakers as normally it does...mine do..so I am not too overly concerned with this..other than it says it does not detect 3D sound..
Go into the Audigy EAX consoled and make sure the settings for class 3D are set right also.

Go to the control panel and open up your sounds and audio devices. Click the advanced button under speaker settings and select the configuration that matches your setup. Then you’ll be all set. Fire up doom and adjust your sound options. :t

The Lodge is correct. What really sucks is that I have 6.1 speakers and there isn't an option for those :(

I have mine on 7.1 in the control panel and the game still says it can't find it...but I know its playing in 7.1 audio..
If you read the info it talks about 3D sound..which is an addin for 6.1 or 5.1 or whatever...
Doom makes use of new concepts in this area also..just like when 3D was related to graphics.
