hi there, i have just installed flight sim 2004 and cannot get it to run past the start up page, the comp is new, 2.8 gig, 80gig hard dve, will i throw this game away

Give us some more info on your system. How much ram do you have? Which video card are you using? Operating system?
My advice, and granted this should be a given, would be to check the game's homepage to see if there are any known issues with your system's components. If there are, there's a good chance that you can either patch the game or download drivers for your components that will solve the problem. I've had similar problems in several games that a download or two solved.
If you've already done that, then your issue may be a bit more serious.
