I have windows XP Home Edition, Not sure much about the rest of the specs, but i have 2 hard drive a Maxtor 80g hd Master, And a Samsung 40gb Slave both are Fat 32, through choice as i didnt like NTFS.
The slave harddrive (samsung) is partitioned in 2 sectors of about 20gb each Drive F and Drive G i use drive G just for junk files and storage and some downloads ,
Is it safe to keep my backup on Drive F or should i maybe move it and keep it on Drive C,
Which do you think is best ? I have Acronis True Image Version7
Thanks Mike :t

I'd put it on F, but if the backup is larger that 2 gig you're going to wish you used NTFS instead.

Ok,
Thanks for the reply Johnny Fist, the backup is about 6.89Gb so far.
Why do u say,
" You wish you had used NTFS if its bigger than 2gb "?

FAT32 has a 2Gb file limitation.
Best bet for a backup to be a "true" back up is to store it in as many places as you possibly can, that way hopefully one of them wont fail in a pinch.
Ive got all my important stuff backedup in at least 5 locations, some of the more important in more than that.
If you have the room, keep it on both C: and F:

Says 4GB for FAT32 there

Says 4GB there as well

4GB there as well. HMMM, 2GB myth me thinks.
Seems as though NTFS is MUCH better at large files though
Johnny are you confusing the 2GB FAT partition limit with the FAT32 4GB file limit?
HandyBackup is an excellent backup program that is scheduled to carry out numerous backups for me. Buy V4 and get V5 free. Students etc get a 30 per cent discount.
I keep the standard as it is and then use HB to direct I to E:

How much $$ is that program?
I have had good luck with Karen's Replicator
and it's free!
For ease of use I can recommend HB unreservedly. I use it as my main backup solution as it is so easy to set up and forget. I do want to migrate over to Retrospect Pro V6.5 but I have not had the time to read and set it up yet.

It is $30 but they give discounts to students etc. In addition, if you buy V4 you get V5+ free. Server activated so it can only be use on one machine unless you ask for a reg key for server problems.
For peace of mind and a backup solution that works, even across networks this is the one to go for.
Otherwise, check out another excellent backup program from AIS Consultancy.
AISBackup V1.1

It will take more to get use to it but it is excellent. Lifetime free upgrades and two licences. Can only be used on same machine unless the computer parameters are the same, e.g., computer name – nothing to hard to overcome.
