The basic problem is my computer wont load up. The power supply is good to everywhere. The cd-rom seems fine and the hard drive at first sounds like it is loading up, but after about 5 seconds nothing happens. My floppy drive doesn't respond when a boot-up disk is put in. I think it might be my motherboard. However, I would like some opinions about what might be wrong with it. If have any questions e-mail me.

Thank you.

Did this thing just up and die? Is this a new build? Did you make hardware changes? What is your system???? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

The majority of the system is just under three years old; however, the processor is only one year old.

System:
pentium 200mhz w/mmx
motherboard: AOpen AP5VM
32 mb simm ram
8x cd-rom (samsung)
3com ethernet card
28.8 supra express pnp modem

Basically the system just died. I leave my computer on the majority of the time. One day when I came back it just was dead, on but dead.

Doesn't sound good to me. Did you have any virus protection installed?

Also, just as a recheck, try resetting your BIOS jumper and see if that helps at all. While you have the cover off, make sure all the cables are connected tight.

How far along in the boot do you get?

virus protection minimal only when opening e-mail.

Checked all connections, those are fine.

boot up doesn't come up on screen. (checked moniter, works fine)

I will check bios, next.

Thank you.
