I wanted to work out the specs of my m/b, so I had a look at the "best of" sticky on this forum. Downloaded Everest, apparently the successor or aida, and this gives the following on the m/b page:

m/b id: <DMI>
m/b name: 4321 tourbook
(tourbook is the model name of my laptop, made by systemax)

The chipset is Intel Odem i855PM-333.

Any ideas how to ID this m/b more accurately??

Thanks in advance,
scouselad

I don't see a Tourbook model 4321 listed on their website:

It was a custom build. Everything seems to be manufactured by a company called wistron - www.wistron.com - but they say that support can only be given by systemax. I don't think 4321 is a model number for the entire system, just the m/b, so it seems I have no way of finding out the specs...
The main thing I want to know is what my upgrade options are. The processor appears to be a slot 1, but IIRC Centrino processors (mine is a 1.5) use a different connection to desktop P3/P4s. ALso I'd like to find out how much RAM the m/b can take (currently got 512 in one slot with the other one empty), and if there are any limitations on HD size.

Thanks in advance,

A laptop using a Slot 1 processor?

Try AIDA - it has support (I think) to ID that mobo too, so maybe it'll give you better info. Wistron is an Acer company and a big maker of laptops so they're not a "no name" company.

How was it a custom build, and where did you get it? If it a "Tourbook" then you're probably okay with 1 gig of RAM, but not sure how big you want go with the HDD - doubt you'd have a problem, as you're probably limited to a smaller drive anyway with it being a lappy?
