40x cd rom vs. DVD rom

Just courious. Got a good deal on a 40x cd rom. Was going to buy the cd rom but will it perform better (game wise) than the DVD rom? I have heard that DVD rom's are not very fast...8x or maybe a little faster. ????????Currently I have a PAN DVD W/BZL.

I don't know about the DVD, never really thought they were worthwhile, but my Kenwood 40x CD-ROM cruises. I pulled 22MB/s in a benchmark program (sisoft sandra) Only drawback is that it sounds like a bejezuz lawnmower when it revs up.

Only $130 Can (like 70 US)

DVDs usually get 24x or 32x, but they don't perform as well in my opinion.
