Does anyone know if it is possible to change out the processor or motherboard in a Toshiba Satellite 225cds? It has a Pentium 133 with 16 megs on board. I added another 16 megs also. The computer is in **** good shape, and i just wanted to make it a little bit faster. I have upgraded many desktops and built my own desktop/tower PCs....but Havent done much with notebooks. Thanks.

I don't know anything about your laptop but if it's like all other laptops then it's pretty much impossible to make a mobo/cpu upgrade.

You can get processor upgrades via www.maxup.com (http://www.maxup.com)
There are a few other places that will do the processor upgrade, but maxup represents the best price I could find for a package (CPU +
HDD) deal. The CPU is hard to upgrade in the notebook, you know, because it is usually soldered in place.

oops, sorry--
Just checked the maxup site and it looks though they do a lot of Toshibas, there's nothing further they can do to upgrade the processor of your model of notebook.

This question was asked a while back... The answer is still "Don't waste your time trying." You have a surface mounted cpu, forget an upgrade there. Changing notebook mobos is about as fun as a root canal, even if you CAN find a replacement. Finding replacement parts is difficult with brand new notebooks. It is impossible(almost) with machines as old as yours.
