Does anybody know why win95 sometimes doesn't shut down all the way? When it just hangs at windows is shutting down your computer or something like that. and never gets to its ok to turn off your computer.
I've seen it happen before and on my machine and a few others and just accepted it as a windows bug, but i actually have to fix it on this computer http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks

Make sure you have all the available downloads for bug fixes. Other than that, make sure all other programs are closed when you shut down.

Your problem will be in the video driver. Try changing the driver to a standard driver or update your current driver.

I agree woth Sahall98- It is Probably a video card problem. Try Re-loading drivers.

I have occasionally solved this problem by deleting the "Advanced Power Management" device in the device manager. Then do an auto detect with the add new hardware wizard. It should find it again, usually. Your milage may vary.

Goldboyd,
Go into CMOS Setup and reload BIOS Defaults. Your computer should shut down properly. Just fixed my granddaughter's computer with this procedure.

No don't laugh, I fond this on Microsoft's site. If you are running IE4 make sure you have all the service packs for it. This fixed a large number of new pc's where I work
