I have been searching, but can't seem to find any win95 support for a ram drive; used to be called a VDISK. I tried to setup some older software through autoexec.bat and confg.sys, but windows would not boot. I tried both xms and ems sys. files without success. I heard that renaming the sys file to RAMDRIVE.sys would solve the problem, but it didn't work, either. I have plenty of prewindows 95 software. if a solution can be found there.
If you have had some success with creating a ram drive in win95, I would appreciate some feedback.

You mean like a whole drive just for Ram? use FDISK from DOS, make a second partion, tell windoze to store the filz there.

Dominus,
Thanks for the research. This was exactly what I was looking for. I see the limit is 16M. My not-so-current software will link additional ram drives. Ram drives used to be the only way to get anything accomplished in a timely fashion when 286's were king (6Mz). With high speed memory - cheap and plentiful, I don't understand why it went out of "fashion." From reading the article, I understand what I did wrong. I'll give it another shot. Thanks, again for taking the time. I'm sure your research will enlighten the younger audience. Bill
Besides the ramdrive provided by microsoft, I know there're several other ram disk applications around, some of them are even size-changable without reboot, you probably can start looking up from www.windows95.com,
search the keyword like "ramdrive", "ramdisk", or something like that.
