Well, i did a dumb thing by bypassing the win98 scan disk after an unexpected reboot, and now when I try to go into game controllers, I cant. I says necessary support files not found. Ive replaced all the reg info saved by norton registry tracker, and it didnt help. Ive reinstalled mulimedia from the win98 cd, no help. Does anyone know what or where these support files do or are? thanks a million!

Could be the soundcard's gameport drivers need reinstalling. Along with the game device drivers.
OR
Replace the registry with one that was saved even earlier than the one your using now.

Good thinking, but yes, i did reinstall the sound card, and all the registry/system, and config saved backups. I ended up reinstalling win98 over my exsisting copy, and all is well. I just had to reinstall my current DX7 beta, which puts me back to normal.

Thanks for the advise!

I have seen many posts where people reinstalled Win98 over an existing installation. Gave them nothing but headaches. They eventually end up doing a clean install.

How are you going about a successful reinstallation process? If its too long of an explanation, no need to go thru it. Just curious.

How's DX7b?

All I did was just reinstall over my current copy, and take up the extra 50 megs to go back to my original 98. Thats it. Im not sure which version my DX7 is.
