Under Control panel->Network, I have the following listed:

Client for Microsoft Networks
Dial-up Adapter
Dial-up Adapter #2 (VPN support)
TCP/IP -> Dial-up Adapter
TCP/IP -> Dial-up Adapter (VPN support)

Which of the above can I remove if I only need to surf Web and online gaming?

How can I determine which of the above protocols/adapters above are been used? (ie. how can I know for sure that the updated ones are been used?)

Thank you very much.

You can remove the "VPN" entries...VPN stands for Virtual Private Network.

You must have checked "VPN" during your "options setup" during the Win98 install.
