I reformatted my SCSI HD without using the low level utility in the SCSI adaptor's BIOS. I removed the primary partition and then let the Windows 98 setup reformat the HD. My capacity is less than what it should be and in Partition Magic 4.0 under partition info in disk geometry it says I have two errors. In the Master Boot Record I would presume. I ran FDISK /mbr but that didn't help. Partion Magic reports:
Info: Begin C,H,S values were large drive placeholders
(disk and partion errors)
Info: Ending C,H,S values were large drive placeholders
Actual values are
0 0 80 0 1 1 0C 1115 254 63 63 17928477
Disk Geometry for disk 1:
No Name 0 0 80 0 1 1 0C 1022 254 63 63 17928477
I know that I probably did something realy stupid but any advice would be appreciated. I have read several different books to try and come up with an attack plan but I want to be sure. I thought that it was not recommended to do a low level format because the drive comes from the factory that way.I imagine reformatting the HD by deleting the primary partition and then reassigning the partition to no name was not such a good idea? Did I need to specify the cylinders, heads, and sectors before I reformatted or is that automatically configured? Please excuse me for being a dumbass.
