I've recently bought a Ricoh 20X/4X CD-R/RW and it's been very successful in making back-ups of my newest games...all except for Aliens Vs. Predator. Has anyone out there been able copy this game? Games are a rip-off if you can't back them up. Software is just too expensive to just use the original, ya know?

If you haven't you might try using Adaptec's DirectCD program ... copy the entire CD unto a new folder on a hard drive, then burn a copy from there. Works with almost every CD I've tried when CD-ROM-to-CD-R/RW copying wouldn't.

cd media world is good but mainly deals with general hardware and software involved. www.gamecopyworld.com (http://www.gamecopyworld.com) is probably more like what you are looking for. different software companies use different copy protections, and those issues will probably be covered there. also the cdr software that you use can make a big difference. adaptec is a good beginners program, but it is a bit limited in what it can do. it wouldnt be my first choice for copying games. id probably use nero. also some games require overburning capability from your software and you recorder. this link www.surfsolutions.com/cdrinfo/tips/programs.html (http://www.surfsolutions.com/cdrinfo/tips/programs.html) provides an overview of the most common types of cdr software. if you install nero and have adaptec, there can be an incompatibility problem with direct cd. either delete direct cd or find and delete "scsi1hlp.vxd" in windows.
