I got a Verison wireless phone used from my mom. So I went to put service on it and they charged me $400 and told me they were only charging me 39.95 for the first month!!!!! So when I found out I called the bank and they told me that verison couldn't have taken the money without my consent. So I called verison and they told me that they wouldn't give me my money for two billing cycles after I ended my service. I seriously needed that money to pay for school...... I hate cellphones.

The day I got the service was the same day they took the money however the day I got rid of service they told me it would take two months for me to get my money back. But acctually I did talk to a representitive and I told him that I didn't authorize the $400 charge and that I was employed by a partner of verison, he told me that my service was cancelled and that in two days I would get my money back, after two days I still had service and had no money was to be found! That was a day before my payment for college was due. So I called them back and they told me there was nothing they could do.
Here is more about how this all happened:
I called the 1800 number on their website to set up service. They told me that I would have to pay 39.95 in advance for my first months service (I already own the phone, they said nothing about a deposite yet OR A CONTRACT! I am new to cellphones BTW) So I gave them my debit card and they took out $400. My credit check should not show up needing any deposite. Then later at work I found out that I acctually work for a company that is a partner with Verison Wireless and I qualify for discounts as well! SO I called them up to figure this whole thing out and get my discount, of course they wanted me to cancel service and do it all over again. But I have used 87 minutes on my phone in two days and they want to allocate me 13 minutes a day and make me pay 45 cents for every minute above that... WTF? On top of that they won't give me my security deposite back for two months and I am a student in college who had set aside that money for classes! They insist that there is nothing they can do.

So they are not saying the won't pay, They are saying they will re-emburse you in 60 days. (Thus no grounds for your bank to kick up a fuss)
I say talk to yer boss & see if some pressure can be applied via intercomapany means.
When you eventually do get yer cash back....... Go with somone else.... These guys have mugged you )-|

There is no way I'll go with verison wireless. I'll use a string attached to some soup cans before I get mugged again! I really just wish that the company didn't lie to me constantly. Its not like I just got one bad rep who lied. Every time I call all I get is BS! There has to be something I could do, I wish I could do something. But I'm sure that big bully corporations don't care about anyone, and they want to hold onto my money for awhile....so they will. Who will stand up for me? no one. Maybe if we got a petition not to use their service?
Ok! They said I would get my money back in two days, now its two months. What says in two months I acctually get my money back?! Nothing. I just sit and wait.

C'est La Vie :(
Here in the UK we have regulatory bodies that oversee such companies, as far as telecommunications goes its called Ofcom
http://www.offcom.org.uk/ I have known them to be usefull somtimes.
I suppose verison could of fracutured a fair trading regulation or two, however my understanding of American Law is ........ Sketchy to say the least. But hey you come from the Land of Litigation some smarty pants lawyer may pull somthing out of the hat........ My guess it will cost ya in the region of $399.99 tho

I just emailed the FCC. I'm glad I have the names and numbers of all the managers I talked with. I know that they have to be able to show authorization of that transaction; I asked them for it and they said, "we don't need authorization." well.... if I can I'll rip them a new hole.
oh and hey, if the FCC won't help me. I'll post all the numbers and names of the managers and anyone who wants can call them up and complain.

yo get off verizon as soon as you can. they have so much strings attached it is ridiculous.
and they make it as arduous as possible to contact them.
cingular, sprint, or your local company is best. These big companies like verizon and at&t really dont give a ****. they dont really NEED your business.

if you can, get rid of the plan, phone, all money back.
if your like me and dont really need it, but just like 10 minutes a month or so, get the "as you go" plan.
i still have my verizon phone, its trimode, if you want ill sell it.
otherwise, see if you can keep your phone for free since they suck, and transfer to pay as you go.
