Joystick and gamepad problems

Has anyone figured out how to use the sidewinder joystick or gamepad on a XP operating system? It just seems wierd that MS makes the darned things and they aren't compatable with the XP operating system. I guess it keeps the money flowing in.

Me thinks it's probably the game that doesn't like XP.

Nope. Microsoft states that XP no longer suports the gamepad and joystick. I was just wondering if anyone had figured out how to make them work. I do think it is a rip that micrsoft won't support their own brand though.
