I'm not sure they have the specific information you're looking for, but they do cover a lot of hints, and tips, and I use it all the time.

I'm not very far into it, but the book "Using The Microsoft Windows 98 Registry" by Jerry Honeycutt seems quite thorough and well written.

You'll definitely benefit from having REGX120.exe from www.regedit.com (http://www.regedit.com) . It helps keep track of places you've gone and makes reversing changes easier.
