I have a 486 and after booting windows 95 if you press the caps lock key the computer crashes with an error "An internal stack overflow has caused this session to be halted. Change the settings in your config.sys file and then try again." It also generates "A fatal exception 0D has occured at 1270:00000218 the current application will be terminated".
The only way to get out of this is to switch off. When you switch on windows tries to run scandisk but can't. So you need windows start up disk and run scandisk from there. This lets windows load ok but when you touch that caps lock key. Back to square one.
Any help in putting this right would be most welcome as nobody I have asked so far knows of a cure. Please help
Chris.
Don't touch the Caps Lock Key, Sorry I can't help, but I couldn't resist!

I would try another keyboard and see if it happens then if you haven't already.
P.S. Don't touch the "CAP LOCKS" KEY http://www.sysopt.com/forum/redface.gif

If you have "Accessibility" instlled (check controll Panel) see if you have any of the keyboard things on (like sound when you hit the caps lock key).

Always try to use a "soft boot" whenever software problems arise. Cntrl+Alt+Del, will generally give the option of terminating a task or shutting down the system. This keeps you from turning the system off while Windows files are still open. As for your problem try a new KB. If that does not work you may have to re-install windows, the problem could very well be a corrupt file.

Sorry I can't suggest much regarding Caps Lock problem except, as others have said, try another keyboard.
But if the fact that scandisk runs everytime you reboot is beginning to annoy, there is a way to switch it off. In the msdos.sys file on your root drive edit the AutoScan line to read: "AutoScan=0" (without quotes obviously! And that's a zero, not the letter O). If the line isn't there, edit it in - under the [Options] section.

Don't use accesability first, then get a new keyboard, and if the problem persists, pull the caps locks key and use shift.
