K8S8X Memory problems

Have had a Corsair 512MB CMX512-3200C2PT module working on my ASRock K8S8X mainboard for about 4 months now. Just bought another stick of the same memory, but the system does not boot properly with both modules in, it just gives me 3 beeps over and over, with no video output. Yet with one stick in (I have tested both sticks, in both RAM slots) it works fine. Why are they not working together?

I am using a 3200 AMD Athlon 64 processor, Radeon 9700 Pro gfx, and have updated to the latest bios to no avail.

These sticks are double-sided, 16 chips each? If so, the board's BIOS (or you, if you have set manual timings) will have to relax the timings a bit, since the load of 32 RAM chips on the same bus is asking a tad much of the PC3200 standard. Remember, this standard is meant for ONE (!) single DIMM. Two is deep in YMMV territory, so don't ask for tight timings.

I relaxed the timings completely in the bios, but im still getting the 3 beeps and no video. I can't see anything else I can try to be honest. I hope there isn't a compatability issue between the two Corsair sticks! I've ran memtest86 on each stick, and both pass.

I wondered if you (or anyone else) had any ideas?

Looks like a BIOS fvckvp to me. Have you checked with ASRock whether there's an update?

I've emailed ASRock, but they don't seem to be of any use, as they just sent me a "see the FAQ" reply! I checked it, of course it had nothing relating to my issue. It is the latest bios that I am using (1.7), but that doesnt seem to make a difference in this case. I have posted on the Corsair forum, but as yet nobody has got back to me there.

The memory are different revisions, would that make a difference (one is ver 1.2, the other 4.1)?
