im building a website with a friend, what i want is for the main page to be loaded once with a box in the middle and when i click a link it loads other pages in to the box, i dont want frame pages so im assuming this will require java, if it does will it work with flash, just that im usuing flash buttons as the links.
thanks for any help:t

why dont u want frames? would be easiest. suppoose u could use java to open pop up windows, but flash could do this easy, u just goto make the template with the box in the middle (the box would be its on layer) and actionscript the links to that layer, locking the other or "main" page surrounding the box.

I think you could do it using Javascript and CSS. When the user clicks on a link/button, you'd call a Javascript routine to hide/show the appropriate division ("<DIV>" in the HTML world). You'd use CSS to position the <DIV> wherever you want. It'd be similar to the way some websites have the drop-down menus like in Windows.
