IP address is an address given to every computer on the internet, just like household addresses... for ISPs, computers which connect get a dynamic (changing) IP everytime they connect. A more permanent connection, normally like a connection from a dorm room in college, you get a static IP. To find out what it is, in Windows, go to Start, Run, and type Winipcfg nad you should be able to see the IP you have, or if you can use mIRC, the command /dns "nickname" can show you the IP address.
