Ok, short n sweet. Why is it, that when i use my Netscape browser, it seems to use all of my CPU?. I use CPU idle and watch as it goes all the way down to 0% when using Netscape. Not tried it with Explorer yet, but still, is this normal?.. Cheers, PWBS.

NO - I have CPUIdle to and have several things going and my CPU is at 98% idle. Do you have Netmedic or something like that running?

Nope, dont have Net medic running.. I have norton auto protect running, but that's ok most of the time. Just seems to be when i'm using Netscape. I really dont understand it at all.. It's like it's draining the CPU. Saying that, i'm posting this reply in Netscape, and it's at a happy 96%. Yet if i was to surf a little, down it goes to 0%. Really got me this..

Do you have a PCI Winmodem and are you using software compression?

When I first log on using this durned Winmodem exactly the same thing happens. (Got an ISA hard modem the other day but can't be bothered installing it.)

Why don't you try taskinfo or wintop to monitor which processes are eating cpu power?
I think that's not the problem of winmodem since they only cost about 10% system resource. Maybe some nice look java, cgi codes in the web pages are draining the cpu power.
