After removing and disabling a floppy in the BIOS, does anyone know what registry edits or ini edits that can be made to force WIN from loading a non-existing floppy drive?

Susan - do you mean stopping the fdd from trying to access a disk that's not there?

Empty - or delete- your Documents menu. Same also resides in the Windows/Recent folder in Explorer.

Sorry, I should have said Floppy Drive. Getting late...

I posted this thread because of the problems I and erales have had that are mentioned in this thread:

I don't know if this is what you're looking for or not, but if your using Win 98 right click on "my computer", click on "properties" click on "performance" click on "file system" then on "floppy disk" and uncheck the box that says "search for new floppy disk each time your computer starts"

I hate to mention what you must have already tried.. Disable the hardware profile for the floppy controller in Device Manager?

If I understand Susan's question correctly, I guess TweakUI would help.

Ooh. Uncheck the A: drive in the My Computer Tab.

Susan.
Wanted to thank you for something. In all this time, of providing useful (i hope) links, it never occured to me to link to other posts here at this forum in my replies.

Until I saw your reply above, I've always ripped the text from thread to the other. Silly me. It has already come in handy.

Thank you, Susan.
