My friend is running a PII-233. I noticed in his BIOS that the cpu's temperature was 52 degrees C. I can't remember if this was after we were playing some Rainbow 6 or not. Is that a normal idle temperature for the PII-233? His bios reported his cpu fan speed at only about 2500 rpm - to me that sounds like a problem. My K6/2-380 idles at about 30 degrees C and my cpu fan speed runs at 4000 rpm. And I thought the K6/K62s ran kind of hot. Any feedback appreciated...

Could be he has a Bios controlled fan. Spins slow or stays off until the cpu reaches a preset temp. If not, you ought to get him a better fan.

Max temp for 233's are usually 70C. Check that link I gave you in your other post. Look at the Quick Reference. S-spec is the last numbers on the CPU starting with 'S'. Look at the DataSheets and Spec Updates for your own reference.
