Make sure that you have CDROM selected first or second in BIOS setup under Boot Sequence.

There's always at least one partition.

Is the CD a copy or original MS?

HEY!!!
it does not have to be a winxp boot disc to fdisk/format your hard drive
simply get a win 98se or win me boot disk from a friend and use it. I load computers all the time for friends and use these so I can use the fat32 file setup instead of the nt setup. (fat 32 SEEMS to be more compatiable with the greater number of progams and games)

use the original, If you've slipstreamed sp1 into the copy, you haven't done a very good job.

Make sure its not saying , Boot from CD : press enter . Or just press 'enter' anyway.

it doesnt say enter. CAN I USE WIN98 (regular) boot disc instead of the XP one? itll be much easier to get.

Yes you can use a Win98 boot disk. Use FDISK to remove the partitions and then create new or use the WinXP floppies.

Because you are using a copy of XP, I have to close this thread.
