I constantly get buffer under-run when pressing CD's with this device.AMD K6-2-333 on a Gigabyte Motherboard,64Mb Ram (PC100),NT4.8Mb Ati Xpert@Play(PCI),16Mb voodoo2(PCI),Awe64(ISA),4Gb IDE (Primary Master), 32X Creative CDR (Secondary Master).
In NT it doesn't matter which CDR s/w I use they all have buffer underun at about 96%. Media doesn't make any difference - TDK,Kodak,Imation (3M) - still same.
I have tried the CDRW on different IDE chains - same problem.
Just so you know I have pressed over 100 CD's with this configuration and the CDRW was fine. One day it stopped working and I am CERTAIN that I made no changes to the system! Has anyone had the same problems?
Also, FYI, If I run the CDRW under Win98 it locks Windows as soon as the CDR software initialises the CDRW for writing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - is it fixable or shall I just take it back to the shop?

The buffer is what goes into the writer, if this underruns then information is not getting to it fast enough. It won't have anything to do with what discs you use. Therefore it could be your reader that is the problem or your hard drive. If you are copying CD's, try copying them to a folder on your hard drive first. Also, go to the websites of all the hardware and software providers you are using in the process and get the latest updates. I presume you are using adaptec software? They have just released new updates for their kit. Go to Philips and see if they have a firmware update available also. I had this trouble with my HP 7200i but it is now remedied. Good luck!
