"NO IDE" edit for Windows registry

Somebody please tell me what that edit is again for the Windows registry that "NO IDE" line that is removed or something... thanks!

start/run regedit. control+F and type in

no ide

thanks again, I'm asking on behalf of a friend whose work computer has "lost" the cdrom.

Found it: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENT CONTROL SET\SERVICES\VxD\IOS and if there is a value "NO IDE" in there it is to be deleted. But it didn't apply in this case.....

Does any of this have anything to do with the MagicSpin 40X that has been on special at CompUSA for $20 (after rebate). I am having similar problems. Their website at www.iomagic.com under "support" and "FAQ" has some suggestions about the source and solution for this problem. The manual also recommends a patch which they give the URL for (page 27).

I have yet to try any of these fixes, but if anybody confirms that this is their problem, I'll keep you informed.

Don't know if anyone cares, but Cmonster's fix is the same as the one given at iomagic.com for a similar problem and it worked for my vanishing CD-ROM problem.
