PCI READ CONFIGURATION ERROR?

Would appreciate in insight into the following error message "PCI READ CONFIGURATION ERROR". Friend just
called me and she is getting the following error message from Win98. After displaying the message, Win98
shuts down. Don't have many more details right now. She is bringing the machine to me to look at and I was
trying to find out what this meassage means. First time I have heard of this particular error message. Did a
search on Microsofts site and could find no ref. to it.

Any help would be appreciated.
