Does anyone know if the new small pci sound cards use more resources that the isa cards?

Part of the reason for PCI sound card's existence in the first place is less CPU overhead. I have the SB Live Value and my framerates in Quake 2 were unchanged compared to not having a soundcard at all. I'd say that qualifies as little to no CPU overhead. I've heard that the MX 300 is more CPU heavy, inspite of it also being a PCI card...someone who has one can comment on that...

I don't know about that specific card, but I went from the Creative Labs AWE 32 (ISA) to the CL PCI128 and my framerate went up about 10%... This card is definately worth it. The PCI bus is much faster than the ISA so it uses less CPU power making it a lot more effecient. Most PCI cards should be faster-

And herein lies my question.. I got a PCI128
and it wont work in dos mode. What i mean is none of my games,tomb,duke3d,nascar,doom2 etc
will find the card.I have tried setup manual
and still no good.It works great in win95.I tried to use the dosdrv on the cd and still nothing. Any help with this? E-mailed Creative and have not recieved responce in 4 days.Arggggg!!!!
