shared documents\prefetch

I have cleaned out the windows\prefetch files
Can I also delete the user\shared documents\prefetch files
Will they be recreated? Are they in use by various programs?

Your wisdom would be greatly appreciated...Thanks

Prefetch files are only used during startup. Feel free to delete them all. New prefetch files will not be recreated for uninstalled programs. That's the real benefit.

The reason I asked about user\shared documents\prefetch
is that some of them were in use by some other program and could not delete?
Well I'll do some more poking around and see what stirs

I can't delete any of the all users\shared documents\prefetch files , but had no problem deleting them @ windows\prefetch

message:access denied...make sure disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use

I tried deleting them in safe mode, checking attrib. and security...
programs that have been deleted, like britannica, rendering programs, etc. No go. Can't think of why they'd be currently in use. Stuck here
