filter for a fan?

i'm about to begin the process of building my first pc, i'm starting with the case first because i know it's the one i want, and it's all i can afford at the moment. here's the case:

i live in an old building with hardwood floors so there's ton of dust, i want to put a filter in the front behind the light blue screen, or in front of it. does that sound like a bad idea?
and yes i will have two fans in the case, front and back.
if you think yes, what kind of filter should i use? find a wallunit A/C filter and cut it small? possibly mosquitoe netting?

An ac filter would be good, its light weight and you could replace the filter a bunch on times with how big they are.

Go to your local hardware store and pick up some filter made for an ac. You just cut it to the size you need. You can rinse them out with water and it's like brand new. That's what I use on the front fan on my case. It cost me less than $3.00. I cut two filters out and still have tons left.

One suggestion that helps greatly reduce the amount of dust picked up is to put the case someplace other than on the floor. I put mine on the desk. The front fans tend to act like a vacuum cleaner on the floor and suck up all those dust bunnies.

The filter idea is good, but you have to remember to clean them. :eek: :t

I found that simply raising my case 4 to 6 inches off of the floor helped (almost as much as installing filters). I used some pieces of 4x4 at first then made some tubular aluminum legs (for looks).

these are the better filters ... they are good looking and u would be able to see that blue light through them. I saw a review for those somewhere and they did a bunch of testing on those filters they work real well. The only bad thing its hard to clean them since u got to take everything apart...:p
