Hi,
This is a P90 with 16mg ram. The hrdrv is a scsi and it run on Win95. I cannot format the drive because now until i back up the software and some data on a specific server. The computer once logged to a NT Network keeps popping Illegal Performance and KRNL386.exe error? The following files are affected : Nainw32, Explorer, Msgrsv32, Nanode32 and N16xpc0. Either the computer freezes and I had to cold boot the system and i'm back in the loop. In safe mode there nothing I can do. Is there a way to fix this without reformatting the drive.?
thanks

You can try making a boot disk in another computer and using it to get started. Otherwise, I'd consider that critter "Format C:\" bound.

Oops, forgot to mention, there are some rather expensive companies that would be more than glad to take your money to pull the info intact from the drive if all else fails.

Well I know what your going through I had the same problem with my 486 with 95B the only solution was to reinstall 95 over the top of itself to fix any damaged files. This won't hurt your existing files but you may have to edit your registry for double entries since this fix can or will not create a regestry that is twice as long.

Hi, Thank you all for your reply. I later find out it was a network application that was causing the pain. We use a software that takes inventory of all computers accessing the network. This software called HPAdmin. A real trouble maker. Also i have replace the Krnl386 with another krnel form antoher similar computer, which may have help. But one question remain,; If i need to preserve allready install but don't have diskette to re-install, what can be done.? Can i just copy the whole directory to a server and then re-copied back to its computers 's drvie. Should there be some thing to be check in registry if so where and what??
Thanks

well if you copy the win95 dir to the hdd.. of the computer.. then you have no problems.. or you can create a Network Client on a dos disk.. and boot to the network share of the win95 installation.. this disk is created on an NT server in admin tools..|network client admin... with this disk u can format the hdd.. after you backup your files on that hdd.. to the server.. and do a fresh install
