9600pro or 9600ultra?

i wanna buy a video card.wich one of those two is slow and why.please help me with this.

If you mean a 9600xt, then the 9600 pro would have slower clock speeds.

those clock speeds are exactly XT standard but the only difference is XT cards have 256 bit core and 128 bit memory but im not sure how that difference would affect performance i dare say a fair bit, if it's compareable to the memory bit size at all

there is a difference of 20$ i have to spend on this 9600ultra compared with 9600 pro
it's the same clock speed as 9600xt but way cheaper

forgive me, but I must be missing something...I had never heard of a Radeon 9600 Ultra before...am i missing something?

The link you supplied has "9600ultra" in the URL but the picture on the site is that of a 9600pro.

I wasn't aware that ATi cards had the designation "Ultra", I thought that was NVidia only.

It's probably the RV350 core, just overclocked 100mhz. It probably won't have the thermal monitor and overdrive function of a real 9600XT, so I'd go with the 9600XT.

the 9600 series cards consist of XT,SE,PRO

I may be wrong and I apologize if I am but just go with the XT like I said previously.

Go with the XT (if you can afford it)
if you can, then get the pro.

I haven't ever heard of ATI having an "Ultra" card, either. That's an nVidia only spec. I'm betting it's either a scam or they just don't know what they're talking about. And yes, go with the 9600XT. It has higher core speeds and 256bit memory and not 128bit, which this does make a big difference in gaming. One thing you might consider, though, is to get the GeForce 5700 Ultra, as it's the same cost as the R9600XT and preforms much better in just about every gaming benchmark.

google has been really worried about this purchase. This is like the second set of forums I have seen him post this info on.

The card he is looking at is a boss looking card but from the specs on the card it is really hard to tell if it has the XT or 9600 core. I understand his concern.

If I were you google, I would buy the 9600 XT. You know what you are getting for sure, and you also know you have some headroom for overclocking the xt. If the ultra card you are looking at is just an OCd 9600 you have no headroom and most likely a card OCd by 100 mhz stock won't have as much life down the road. It is going to run hot even with the cooler it has.

Just my honest opinion.

I agree, not worth the risk. The 9600 XT would be a much better investment then going with this card and seeing what you get.
