sorry for the drama of the title, Jack inspires me.

OK, so we have all been pounding away waiting for D3 for a few years. Same with HL2. The AAA quality of these titles makes for some serious anticipation. What game will fill our "when the *Heck* will they release that game" needs when HL2 comes? What will we complain about then?

Not a bad point....and I thnk I know what you mean .....

Quite often go back and lok at the gaming community..and think that everone including myself..should just get a life......

It seems we are all quite spoiled..to some degree...and can't wait till the next big thig comes out ..in this case the subject is games.....

I will have to admitt..even though it is not condoned by this forum and may be illegal ..that a year or two ago..I had some hundred or more games I did not buy ..but got through Shareware programs...and never thought I would spend so much money on a new computer...and then on alot of the best games out there..but i have..and I am hooked like some perky smitten kid....who has to have it now....

Its OK...as when you consider the rubbish people spend their money on
and the fact you could be off getting into trouble or hooked on drugs...or something....it seems quite a small thing and keeps giving yus pleasure..as for us gamers....that is our main fun or one of anyway.......

I am quite old..by the gaming community standards...and it seems odd..evne to me..but I always was a kid at heart....and did not have a computer when I was younger...:rolleyes: ;)

Well after seeing the Unreal 3 engine (which IMO blows away the doom3, farcry, and hl2 engines) that is where I expect visuals to go next. So it will get better.

I am hoping that by 2010 what we see on the screen will be much closer to lifelike.

I think when this happens the limits are endless. Games can be scarier, more fun, and more exciting because the closer you get to realism the closer you get to people feeling they are actually in the game because its more believeable and more real to the senses.

Doom 3 didn't scare me as much because as good as the visuals are they just aren't close enough to lifelike to totally immerse me in the environment. Farcry had a nice environment but we don't have the power yet to do environments and people with the details needed to make a game believable to the fullest.

You have to admit that the AI in FarCry was one of the best if not the best yet.....

When you can be somewhere miles away and they come for you and also ...get a shot in..and spot you while you thought you were under cover..and hyndreds of yards away...that is impressive...

I totally agree with the best thing that is going on now is the realism and characters getting so close to lifelike...it makes me want to get and play that game..so much more.....
It is the main reason I keep buying games...is the realism...as I am picky as all get out about this...

Exciting times..these are..and getting much better every day.;)

Since these games were so long in the developemental process..I would guess that both the game companies...have learned alot and the next installments..would not take forever like the last did..

About a year....tops...I would think...
