I just got this monitor (microtek 815C) and I am having problems with my computer. After hooking the monitor up, my computer would not boot up, it just kept saying "safe to turn of computer, hit any key". When I turned it on the first time, windows 98 said new hardware detected, and it promted me to look for and install the driver. Any way one thing led to another and I could not get my computer to boot up, only in safe mode. So I did the scanreg/restore and then it would boot up again. Only this time I did not install the driver, like windows wanted me to, and the computer would still boot up fine and everything would work, but If i let the computer sit for any length of time, a curser would appear in the upper right hand corner of the monitor and I would have to restart my computer.
So I reinstalled the driver that windows was prompting me to everytime I started the computer. This time the computer boots up fine, but If I let the computer sit for a while, and open IE, all the graphics are messed up, everything is squigly lines, cannot make out any pictures. If I restart computer, then it gets back to normal. Any ideas?
I am using Windows 98 2nd edition
