Make sure the gameport on the sound card is functioning without conflicts in Device Manager.
Install MS's SideWinder 3.02 software. This soft is for all SideWinder products, from GamePad to ForceFeed Wheel. Yuo can get it here http://www.microsoft.com/products/hardware/sidewinder/force/default.htm
I downloaded a program I had hardly found
the program sais that it can fix the connection problem but when I start it it sais that my game pad is not connected as device 1 but I think it is how can I check it and ho can I make it work

Sorry. I don't quite understand you.
Are you saying you installed a program besides the one I mentioned above?
Here are several things you can try.
1. Download the latest updated drivers for your sound card from the manufacturer's site.
2. Remove the sound card and all it's components from device manager.
3. Reboot and install the newly downloaded drivers.
4. Check Device Manager for any conflicts.
5. Attach the GamePad and check the cables. Be sure the little green light is lit on the game pad.
6. Install download and install the SideWinder software.
7. Download and install Directx 6.1 from Microsoft (you are using Win95 or 98?)
Note: If you already installed the SideWinder software, uninstall it first.
If you don't want to do #2, you can just update the drivers, however, I would recommend going thru the process, to get a clean install of the device and drivers.
I did everything u told me
and nothing
But I tryed somthing new, I disable all the sound drivers and left only the gamepad driver and then it was o.k but I dont want to choose betwin gamepad or sound, I think I will be able to fix it if I will make my gamepad Device 1 but I dont know exactly what is it

By the way I have C-media sound card and its OnBoard
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The device ID assignment for the GamePad can be changed from the Game Controllers icon in Control panel. Click on the Advanced tab and you'll be able to assign the ID from there.
With an onboard card, a Bios and driver update may be your only solution. Apparently, the hardware of the C-Media soundcard does not provide sufficient voltage to the GamePad. (*see article below)
If you decide to get another soundcard, be sure that the onboard card can be disabled. Right now you can get a MX300 for $52 -best for gaming.
Try the link below and see if the driver works.

SYMPTOMS
When you connect a Microsoft SideWinder digital game controller to a sound card based on the C-Media CMI8330 chipset, a status of "Not Connected" may be displayed in the Game Controllers tool in Control Panel if you attempt to calibrate or test the joystick.
CAUSE
Sound cards based on the C-Media CMI8330 chipset may have a resistor on the card that does not allow the passage of sufficient voltage to operate the SideWinder digital game controller.

Did you install the drivers for your gameport on your soundcard? Other than that, I know that 3.02 will only work with DX6 or higher, so be sure about that.
