Did you run the install program on the CD that came with your new video card?
Go to the display properties sheet, select settings/advanced properties and then look at the "adapter" tab and see what driver your card is using. if you think it is not the correct one then you can change it and direct Windows to look at the install disk that came with your V3.
many cards will use a variation of the ATI drivers
another thing you may want to try is booting into safe mode and in the device manager under display remove your OLD video adapter.
tks for reply.......
ran the installation program yes...
advanced properties comes up 3dfx voodoo..
so does display adapters in system properties-device manager....
in sound video & game controllers under device manager it comes up ati multimedia video driver ?? is this right ??

u should revert back to the standard VGA driver setup before even physically installing the new card. After installing the new card, then u can switch the drivers from the standard VGA to V3 drivers.
