I just got the MSI 9800 Pro, and it's fantastic. I ran ATItool and it clocked the core to about 450! Now, I want to run it at XT speeds, but my question is: should I switch between XT speed and default (pro) speeds? I mean, in ATItool you can setup different profiles of clock and memory speeds and switch between them easily, as Im sure most of you are aware. But, if I just clock it "permanantly" at XT speeds will it damage the card even a little over time? Or not at all?
Also, if I use radlinker, how exactly do I set it to boot up at certain speeds? If I set it at a speed, will it always "stay" at that speed, or will I have to configure it each time I boot up?
Would there be any damage that could occur from switching frequently between speeds using ATItool?
Thanks, and Im sorry if this has been discussed before, I really couldnt find answers to all my questions in the search. :t

forgot to mention...
Right now I have the 4.7 catalyst driver from ATI's website. Should I consider the 4.8's or even the 4.9's? Are they stable, or is there any difference? And yes, I do plan on playing Doom 3.
Thanks!

Keep in mind that ATI tool is less intensive than Doom3... I got my core all the way up to 445 using ATI tool before any artifacting, but i get some artifacts in Doom3 at 420. Its at 417 now and is working good.

Download Radlinker, and with its clock rate adjuster, set the clocks to the figures ATiTool gave you, then hit "Set" followed by "Use Current"

Word of advice: If your going to be running that card oc'd, especially Doom 3, get a better heatsink/cooler. The original one, on most that is, are junk. You will get better performance with just a little investment in something like the Arctic Cooler Silencer. I have one and a lot of 9800 owners here do to. Nothing but good reports.

yea i was thinking that, but ive heard that this card will handle XT speeds because of the bigger heatsink it has on it. its the MSI card here: http://images10.newegg.com/productimage/14-127-127-12.JPG
so what about the drivers? 4.8's or 4.9's...stable and worth upping from the 4.7's?

some people have reported some performance in the 4.9 mostly on the X800 if im not mistakin, I downloaded the 4.9 for the 9800 and felt I lost some performance, so i rolled back, I saw a big FPS loss in doom3 mostly.
I re-downloaded the Omega drivers and every thing seems to run much better. I gained back about 9 to 10 FPS when I reinstalled my older drivers. this may be due to the fact the driver its self is in its early beta stage, so I wouldnt count on it being perfect yet.
