The CD-Key is stored in an unencrypted file in the "Doom 3\Base" folder, all that the exploits do is retrieve the data from this file (i.e. The CD-Key) whenever anyone accesses these particular game-servers.

People on IRC where downloading some .pak file that some random person said you needed to join some server, people actually went and downloaded it and put it in their Doom3 dir, and then joined this server which was not encrypted so the admin (probably the kids friend) was able to see all the CD Keys probably while the people where connecting. Not that astonishing if you ask me, just one of the 1st hacks to go public like any other game you can play online.

Well now it looks like iD made it so generated cd keys will not work in online game play... that original message is what confuses me so much though...
