.....in Doom 3, that is until your computer finally just crashes.
nVidia has finally overclocked their cards so far beyond their capabilities that they're no longer stable at stock speeds.

that's only for the UX, which really isn't going to see the light of day.

Actually according to those charts, you don't need a Ultra Extreme to beat the x800 pro. You don't even need an Ultra, heck, not even a GT. The plain ole' 6800 beats it.
For the X800XT PE you just gotta move up to the GT for it to get beat.
Lets also keep in mind that this is but a single game. Lets see how HL2 does.

he was saying the 6800UX was crashing because it was factory overclocked.

As a general point about Anandtech, don't take their benchmarks as gospel, their numbers seem to repeatedly vary widly from all other tech sites out there, its a very good idea to cross reference their numbers against Hardocp etc.
(They have been known to post incorrectly measured results then post apologies but not retract the offedning results for example and their numbers for ATi cards in the above article are way out of line with everyone else's)

Well at least Midknyte understood my post. I thought the title was funny...come on...whole heatedly...hah, that's funny stuff.
Jakk, I didn't know that about Anandtech. I knew you didn't like Tom's hardware but no idea you didn't like either one of the top two hardware sites. What up with that?

I'm not a fan of Anandtech's graphics cards reviews, simply becasue of inconsistencies and innacuracies in their numbers. I dont mind the site as a whole, it's just that particular area.
That said, just about every site out there has its pro's and con's. Driverheaven for example is very good overall but tends to favour ATi in its performance tests, while Tom's tends to favour nVidia and Intel. The only big hardware site that i've ever been entirely convinced is straight down the line is Hardocp.
It's for this reason that i always liek to cross reference the numbers from at least three sites before forming an overall view.

there are some uber sites, but none that should be considered the gospel. granted, anand and tom don't necessarily do all their own reviews anymore. even kyle has other people doing 'em. It's like going to the doctor. before you get major surgery, you want to get a second or third opinion.
I'm such a penny pincher that it takes me forever to decide if I'm going to buy something. I read like 15 6800 reviews before I decided to get the GT. even then, I was wary. $400 ain't chump change. :r I did the research, so it was a safe investment. :)

Jakk, I couldn't agree more. In this instance I believe if a heat problem is found with a video card running at stock speeds, it's a sign that there is a problem with the cards design. I really wasn't posting about the benchmarks at all. I do agree with you though, only a fool spends before adequate researching.
Midknyte, how do you like your 6800?

It is sweet. OC'ed it well past Ultra speeds (427/1160), but I only OC it to 400/1100 just to be safe. 13000+ in 3DMark03. Farcry and D3 look awesome. :D

I think by the overall benchmarks and what you can do with it...the 68000GT is the best card going..and its the one I am getting.....
SOMEDAY
Midknyte..that was a wise move..and I agree...$400.00 is no chump change....and it better rock and roll...

It is, it wont be seeing the light of day any time soon (if ever). It was a "paper release" more than anything to put up comparable benchmarks to the X800XT PE (which itself wont be seen en mass - and possibly in a revised format - until October)
