Application not seen

Can anyone explain this situation,

Using XP professional.

Sometimes when running more than one application, I loose a minimised one from the taskbar it just disappears, can't be seen, I think its closed, so I try to open it again from the shortcut, but it says application already running. It shows running in task manager, but I am unable to see it on the taskbar to maximise it, has anyone else had this happen?

What does it show when you hit alt/tab? Is it locked or unlocked? When you unlock it can you use the slider bars? Most problems people have with the task bar are from accidental ketstrokes or mouse clicks. Try resetting defaults in tools/internet options/advanced.

alt tab is new to me thanks looks like it will do the trick
