Hello all,

I've have a problem on a machine I'm making for my friends. I received all the parts and got them all put together just fine. Then, once I'm done with the hardware installation, I hit power and it seems to do a little, but I never get a BIOS screen or anything. :-( I've tried 2 CPU's (one of which I'm sure works), tried the RAM in all 3 slots, hmm....what else? Yes, I also swapped out the video cards. All this was to no avail. Here's the computer setup if it helps:

*Abit BH6
*Cel 300a PPGA @450
*MSI slocket adapter
*128 MB PC100 RAM
*Western Dig 10.2 GB HDD
*CL TNT (retail)
*17" Digital reasearch Monitor (this is
mine, I'm just using it to test their
comp)

I've tried my slot 1 300a, which I know work and had no success. I tried the 128 MB RAM in MY computer and it worked fine. I tried my Voodoo 3 3K in the box, but still nothing. Oh, and I tried my mom's lil 14" monitor with it just to make sure the monior wasn't messed up.

Is there any power to the fans, HD, CD ROM?

Recheck to make sure that the RAM and Video are seated correctly.

Strip it down to a basic system.Mb,cpu, video card memory.Make sure the cmos jumper is NOT in the clear cmos position. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

It really seems as if the monitor is just not receiving any output. I can hear a little going on right at the first, but then nothing. And I never get the Bios screen or any responce from the monitor whatsoever. I've tried the stripped down method too. Nothing luck there. I really thought that clearing the CMOS would do it... that's the first thing I tried, but with no luck. I know it's not the RAM, cos it worked in my personal system till that screwed up. I may just have to take it somewhere and have them look at it. OUCH! that hurts the old ego... :-) Thanks for the suggestions...if anyone can fix this, they'll be my new best friend! haha... it will be tough since nobody can personally look at it.

thanks a ton!

If you can't easily swap video card/monitor...or you can't check the monitor you're using on another box....

Are you getting a good POST beep from your onboard spkr? After the system settles down, does the three fingered salute reboot your box(watch and listen to the box)?

If both are yes then video is the prob, for sure. If either is no, something else might be the prob.

Id bet it was a loose fitting(or not perfectly straight) slot 1 adapter. I had that same problem on my 300a, when it was'nt seated just right. They are REALLY touchy on that bh6, i mean, if its tilted one milimeter to the side, no screen.
