I developed a strange problem yesterday-I was typing a file name to extract in System File Checker -suddenly multiple 6s just typed in themselves and a ding-ding-ding sound was heard from my speakers.

Also-everything else was flaky-couldn't run any other APPS - They just flaked out and any open typing bars were filled with 6s.

I rebooted and tried to sign on the internet-forget it-the password bar was just filled with 6s and the same ding-ding-ding noise.

What the helll! After a couple more reboots everything quieted down. I ran scandisk-defrag-Windoctor-nothing wrong. Checked-system-device manager-no conflicts-nothing wrong.

I run W98- I haven't installed anything new lately. It seems like a flaky driver-I removed the mouse from device manager and rebooted-haven't had the problem today yet-but weird

Anyone have a clue?

Thank you Jin -I thought my computer WAS posessed-LOL- http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Funny, I did check the keyboard for stuck keys-But now that I think of it I found 2 soda cans on my desk that my son must have left- uh oh- May be time for a new keyboard.

Ah yes, a seemingly rational explanation . . . but did you stop to ask yourself why the soda just happened to choose the '6' key out of all the keys on the keyboard [theme from 'The Exorcist' throbbing in the background]? Is it the soda can that is really possessed and trying to . . .

Oh okay, I guess I've had too many long boring nights working at the computer. Gotta get out more often . . .

I would run a virus scan program just to be on the safe side. What you were typing in might have been the the trigger to set off the virus.
