Hi all,

Have a Fujitsu Siemens PC dedicated to run a Plasma TV for DVD viewing only. The current gfx card is fine but I now need one with DVI output so I can connect the PC to the plasma through the Plasma HDMI port instead of the front VGA port (to improve the picture quality big time).
Since the PC desktop case is a branded smallish size I am having problems finding a AGP gfx card which will fit in the case which has DVI as well. Anyone got any model ideas for me?

Hope you can help.

Thanks

Search for PowerColor or Club3D brand "Low Profile" Radeon cards. Available with 9200SE, 9550SE, 9600SE chipsets, all have DVI+TV+VGA setup. They have the VGA on a cable, which you'll lose if you use the Low Profile bracket rather than the standard height one.

if you're in the US,

for Germany, if you're elsewhere, do your own search ;)

There are many other cards out there that _would_ be LP but don't include the alternate slot bracket to actually fit an LP machine.

If this machine can't do at least 4x AGP, you'll have to use a 9200SE, since the 9550 and 9600 chips don't do 2x AGP anymore.

Thanks for your email.

I shall hunt around for those chipsets - Might have to import as presently unsuccessful with ebuyer, dabs, overclockers and overclocker in the UK :(

You might have to be patient for a couple of weeks - ATi is just transitioning from 9200 to 9250 series, and the lowest end 9600 cards are being replaced with even lower spec'ed 9550s.

ebuyer used to have the PowerColor LP cards.

Thanks for this. Will keep an eye out at ebuyer.

I just sold a power color 9600se to a client. It comes bundled with an extra SFF (Small form factor) backplate and so should suit you just fine.
The normal D-Sub 15 pin vga thingy is connected to the card using a short ribbon cable that you have to remove when you use the small backplate though.

You mean LP bracket not SFF. (The usual bunch of popular SFF boxes use full-height slots.)

Will look for LP then - incase it is named differently in UK.
Thanks

The PCI standards documents call it "Low Profile PCI Add-In Card", so LP is the word to look for, no matter where in the world you are.

Hi I bought an Canyon ATI Radeon 9200SE, 128mb DDR, 64bit with tv and DVI output for £36.00 - Has the low profile bracket so that's great as I can take the VGA connector off and run through DVI. Doesn't need to be a really powerful card as just running a plasma through a PC so this is excellent.
