I was just using my computer, reading email and reorganizing music, when all of sudden, my monitor, at least the one I ma using right now just zap, got really blurry and came back to normal image quality.

This has never happened before. It could not have be degauss as i know what that is and I do that manually ever so often.

There was a flash that made my heart skip a beat. Almost as if the montior took a picture of me.

From the back of the monitor, I heard static discharge.

Sounds like you might have a HI voltage problem in the monitor, Bovon would know the name of the part I'm thinking of, something to do with the flyback transformer I think. Anyhow, it usually spells doom for the monitor. I've had this happen on TV's too.

The exact same thing happened to me with my HP monitor a while back. It started as just one 'zap', but then it started happening more frequently until it reached a climax when it zapped with vigor and started emitting a terrible smell and needless to say I had to get the monitor RMA'd. :(

Well it's been six days and another zap ahs yet to occur...Could it have been a bug completing a new circuit?

It's possible I suppose, but it could also have been a Capacitor going away too. Guess we'll see if you have anymore trouble:eek:

i had a 10 year old nec multisync 3v that died for a capicator and extreme magnetic problems. a capactior was going bad and there was also an erattic magnettic feild around the monitor for like 1.5 feet (i know this because my dolby digital decoder was going hay wire in the range of the monitor
