How do I cancel the automatic stracture when I enter 3 dots

dang, i don't have word97 on machine right now, but i think i know what you're talking about.
if you mean, stop word from replacing special symbols as you type, go into the menu and look for autocorrect (under tools?), and one of the tabs should be something like "replace as you type" or something like that. go down and find the "..." entry and remove.
