I didn't used to have this problem, but for some reason the floppy drive attempts to access now and then when I am in windows even though I never get near to anything which would use it. If I put a disk in, then it only accesses the one time and then quits.

Do you have an anti-virus program installed? They will do that sort of thing.

Go to Start/Settings/Taskbar/Start Menu Programs and Clear Documents.

also, having any shortcut in the start menu with a path to the floppy will cause this.

Well its not my virus scanner since I've had it long before the problem arose and its settings haven't been changed. My documents also are cleared automatically whenever I shut down the computer. But I'll try the registry cleaning and look for a shortcut. Thanks to all for replying.
