whenever i first start up my comuter, the moniter just acts like the computer is off, it wont do anything at all. so i turn off my computer and restart it, and the moniter would work.

why doesnt it work when i first boot up my computer? thx

I had a very similar problem. I first suspected the power supply but what it ended up being was my video card. Try checking all the parts you can in other computers, as it could anything. What is the specs of your system?

Has the card got a second output you could try?

Also, what are your PSU specs? Similarly if the Monitor is daisy chained up to the system PSU, connect it directly to a wall outlet so it isnt drawing power from the computer.

This sounds like a thermal issue. When you power up the first time does the Fan in the Video card work? Open your case and check that first.
We had similar problems with our card.
The newer card wont work if the fan it not running.

Try taking out all the cards and unplugging drives off your motherboard, leaving only the video card in to see if you can get your computer to at least boot to the BIOS. After that, start adding things to see if you can diagnose the problem. If that doesn't work, try a different video card. And if that doesn't work, either you PSU and/or you motherboard is the problem.
