I have a problem which appears to be related to Winsock. ICQ was installed on a Win95 machine (P-133). The program will not load as the machine boots up from startup. It will, however, load when I go to start, programs and select ICQ. At first ICQ would not load at all until I copied Wsock32.dll from a Win95 machine that worked. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it twice to no avail. Does anyone have any idea(s) why it will not load from startup?

This is a long shot, but it's possible that your computer doesn't have the resources it needs to boot AND fire up ICQ at the same time. There ought to be a FAQ somewhere for ICQ you can check. I don't use it myself so I'm just guessing.

Did you already update to the latest Winsock .dll? (Just in case it was the winsock)

Thanks, I figured out the problem. When I looked at a similar machine that worked I discovered on my problem pc that Wsock32.dll file (65kb) was in the windows and the windows/system directories. Once I removed it from the windows directory everything worked fine.
