I am installing linux on a machine with SCSI hard drives and have stumbled across a strange error. I made a boot disk through the installation program (RedHat 6.0), but when I try to boot, I get error 0x10. I found some documentation that says that this may be due to bad hd blocks or wrong cylinder/head information, but I don't think either of these are true. I believe that it has more to due with the fact that it is a SCSI drive. It is at SCSI ID 1 (supposedly needs to be ID 0 or 1), and the root partition is sdb1. I installed LILO on sdb1 rather than the master boot record so as not to mess up my NT installation for now (my housemates all use it). Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this one? There was an option called "linear mode" when installing LILO that claimed it was needed for some SCSI controllers (I have an 2940UW). Does anyone know what this does? Thaks a bunch!
